Although we are guest teachers, we need to be set for Monday morning when we get the call to step in and help a teacher that needs a day off for any reason. I like to change out my bag, and make sure I have treats, my passes to bathroom, and books for the week. I also make sure that I have something quick for them to make if there is a lull between subjects, etc.
Books - If you don't have your own personal library at home, visit the nearest library and get some books for the week.
Treats - I like to buy smarties, this is even awesome for high school students who are taking a test. Split the packs, and give individual smarties to the students.
Passes - I made up a hallway pass, bathroom pass that I keep at all times in my bag, so that when the students have to go somewhere, they have my pass, which has my name on it.
Games - I also view different games that I can use during the day for transitions.
By Sunday afternoon, I try and get my bag ready so that when I get a call to be a guest teacher I am ready to go out the door with my bag and not rushing around in the morning.
By my all time important suggestion is make time for yourself, and don't run yourself ragged the whole weekend. Even if it's for a couple of hours have a ME time. So that you will be refreshed for the new week to start.
