Don't Let the Pigeon Drive
the Bus!
Caldecott
Award 2004
When a bus driver takes a break from his route, a very unlikely volunteer springs up to take his place —- a pigeon! But you’ve never met one like this before.
As he pleads, wheedles, and begs his way through the book, children will love being able to answer back and decide his fate.
In his hilarious picture book debut, popular cartoonist Mo Willems perfectly captures a preschooler’s temper tantrum.

My recommendation for the Guest Teachers is to read this book for any grade. There are times during the day that you might
be able to use the book. Those
times would be a pause between subjects, right before lunch, or at the end of
the day. I like to capture the students interest
of letting them know that I brought a book to read, and entice them to want to
hear it.
